Statement from AKP's Şamil Tayyar, who said 'Saran will be 100 percent arrested': 'This decision is the power of Fenerbahçe'

Former AKP deputy Şamil Tayyar had used the words, "He will be 100 percent arrested. He needs to become a confessor like Ela Rümeysa," regarding Fenerbahçe President Sadettin Saran, who was detained last night, during a television program he attended.

Saran, who spent the night at the Provincial Gendarmerie Command, was referred first to the hospital and then to the courthouse in the morning hours. After his statement procedures were completed, judicial control requiring a signature twice a week was requested for Saran. Following the court's evaluation, Saran was released.

Tayyar, who had claimed last night that Saran would be arrested, made his first statement following the decision.

In a post on his X account, Tayyar stated, "Sadettin Saran was released with judicial control conditions. This decision is not Saran's, but the power of Fenerbahçe; I congratulate them."

Continuing his post, Tayyar assessed, "The Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, which issued a second detention order after Saran's drug test came back positive, changed the nature of the crime while referring Saran to the court. In the detention order, Saran was accused of supplying, using, and facilitating drugs, while he was only accused of using drugs when referred to the court. Naturally, no arrest warrant was issued."

Continuing his views in his statement, Tayyar used the following expressions:

"In principle, I have always said that trial without arrest is correct if there is no suspicion of flight or evidence tampering.

In this case, I am of the opinion that Mehmet Akif and Rümeysa, who have been subjected to similar accusations, should also be tried without arrest.

Otherwise, the public conscience will be damaged.

One should not lead to the perception that the powerful are protected."
