A 6.2 magnitude earthquake occurred in the Sea of Marmara today at 12:49. The earthquake, which occurred at a depth of approximately 7 km, lasted a total of 13 seconds.

The earthquake, which was 24 km away from the coast of Silivri, was felt in surrounding provinces, especially in Istanbul.

As of 15:12, 51 aftershocks, the largest of which was 5.9, have been recorded.

We have received 6 thousand 100 reports to our 112 Emergency Call Center so far. The vast majority of these reports were for information purposes.

Thank God, there has been no loss of life or injured citizens so far.

Following the earthquake, all our teams moved into action rapidly from the very first moment. According to the scans conducted so far, there is no case of a collapsed building that is inhabited. Our scans are continuing.

There are no problems with infrastructure and energy lines.

Our request to our citizens is to take into account the statements of our official institutions.

Let us not let our guard down against possible aftershocks. Please do not rely on unverified information spread on social media and different channels.

I wish a speedy recovery to our Istanbul and to our citizens living in the provinces where the earthquake was felt.

We will continue to share developments with the public.

May God protect our country and our nation from disasters.
