Statement from CHP's 'null and void' administration following İzmit Municipality operation: 'Justice must be served without delay...'

An operation was conducted against the CHP-run İzmit Municipality in the morning hours. It was learned that İzmit Mayor Fatma Kaplan Hürriyet, her spouse, and CHP İzmit District Chair Gökhan Ercan were taken into custody as part of the operation, in which detention warrants were issued for 31 people.

FIRST STATEMENT FROM THE 'NULL AND VOID' ADMINISTRATION IN THE CHP

Müslim Sarı, spokesperson for the administration of Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, who was brought to the CHP chairmanship via a decision of absolute nullity, made a statement regarding the operation.

Sarı noted the following in a post on his X account:

"The operation carried out against our İzmit Municipality this morning is the latest example of the judicial processes conducted one after another against Republican People's Party municipalities in recent times. It is essential that judicial processes be conducted in line with the principle of the rule of law, away from political debates, observing the presumption of innocence, and taking trial without arrest as the basis. We will continue to follow the process closely to ensure that justice is served without delay and the truth is revealed in its entirety."
