Statement from the DMM regarding the 100,000 housing unit lottery in Istanbul

The Center for Combating Disinformation (DMM) under the Presidency's Directorate of Communications has issued an announcement stating that certain claims circulating on social media regarding the lottery draws for the 100,000 social housing project to be built in Istanbul do not reflect the truth.

In the DMM statement, it was noted that the lottery process was conducted in the presence of a notary and entirely in a digital environment, based on random selection. The statement, which said, “The entire lottery process was conducted in the presence of a notary, closed to any external interference, in a computer environment, and based entirely on a random selection principle,” included the following remarks:

“The lottery draws held on April 25-26-27, 2026, were completed in accordance with the principles of public seriousness and full transparency. In order for our citizens to follow the process in real-time, all draws were broadcast live on social media. The application lists were shared with the public prior to the lottery, and the rights of all our citizens who met the requirements were fully defined in the system. The results of the draw were finalized with notary approval and announced through official channels. It is kindly requested that no credence be given to disinformation activities aimed at casting a shadow over the lottery results and undermining the reliability of our institutions, and that only statements from the relevant official authorities be taken into account.”

It has been observed that baseless allegations regarding the lottery for determining the beneficiaries of the 100,000 social housing project to be built in Istanbul have been circulated in some social media posts.
