Statement from HAYKONFED regarding the 6 kittens slaughtered in Ankara

HAYKONFED members and animal lovers held a press statement in front of the building where the incident occurred, reacting to the killing of 6 kittens in the Etimesgut district, whose heads and paws had been severed.

In the statement he made on behalf of the group, Özkan expressed that it is impossible for the person or persons who did this to the kittens to be "human."

Demanding that prison sentences be given to those who abuse animals, Özkan said, "Brutality against animals is the first step toward brutality against humans. The second is humans. The way to stop such cruel, heartless people is through prison sentences that involve actual jail time."

"WE CALL ON OUR LAWMAKERS TO TAKE ACTION"

Claiming that malice and hatred against animals are being spread by troll accounts, Özkan stated that they demand these accounts, which seek to create chaos in the country through animals, be identified and stopped as soon as possible.

Özkan said, "At this point, we call on our justice system to take action. We call on our lawmakers to take action. We call on them to take action to rectify the inadequacy of the penalties."
