Statement from İSKİ regarding brown water flowing from taps

Some citizens residing in districts such as Üsküdar, Bakırköy, Bağcılar, Bahçelievler, and Güngören in Istanbul stated on social media that dirty water was flowing from their taps and requested that authorities find a solution to the problem.

Some citizens also shared images of the dirty water flowing from the taps in their kitchens and bathrooms, expressing their reactions to the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) and the Istanbul Water and Sewerage Administration (İSKİ).

In a statement made on İSKİ's official website regarding the issue, the following expressions were included:

"Due to a malfunction that occurred in the early hours of the morning in the Bosphorus crossing system of our Çamlıca-Salacak line, changes were made to our distribution system by performing maneuvers on the Bosphorus crossing line and the branches connected to this transmission line. Depending on the flow rate changes in the lines where maneuvers were performed, complaints regarding water color have been received from our subscribers fed by these lines. While we state that the change in the color of the water is not a situation that will negatively affect human health, the necessary discharge works are being carried out in the field by our relevant units, and the problem will be resolved as soon as possible."
