Statement from Lütfü Savaş regarding election results in Hatay: 'I emphasize once again'

Lütfü Savaş, who ran as the Republican People's Party (CHP) candidate for Hatay Metropolitan Municipality Mayor in the March 31, 2024 Local Elections, finished the election in 2nd place according to unofficial results.

Mayor Savaş announced in a social media post that he would file an objection to the election results.

In the statement in question, Savaş said, "My dear fellow citizens, I emphasize once again that we will absolutely not allow the electoral will of the people of Hatay to be usurped.

We will submit our objection regarding the election results to the Antakya District Election Board at 10:00 on April 2, and subsequently to the other district election boards. 

"OUR STRUGGLE WILL CONTINUE UNTIL IT IS FULLY REFLECTED"

Since last night, our legal team has been continuing its work on many issues, including wet-signed documents, vote counting sheets, vote result reports, and YSK (Supreme Election Council) data regarding the elections. Our struggle will continue until the will of the people of Hatay at the ballot box is fully reflected. 

We will follow up on every single vote. I would like to thank our Deputy Chairmen Mr. Gökçe Gökçen and Murat Bakan, our deputies Nurhayat Ataca Kayış, Mehmet Güzelmansur, Nermin Yıldırım Kara, our former deputies Suzan Şahin and İsmet Tokdemir, our Provincial Chairman Mr. Hakan Tiryaki, our party organization, my fellow citizens, and everyone who contributed, all of whom have been with us throughout this entire process.

We will follow up on every single vote. We will inform you at every stage from now on. I offer my respects and love," he stated.
