Statement from MHP's Yıldız regarding sick prisoners: 'It should not be a matter of debate'
MHP Deputy Chairman Feti Yıldız has made a statement regarding sick prisoners. Yıldız said, "If the execution of a prison sentence poses a definite danger to the prisoner's life, the postponement of the execution until recovery should not be a matter of debate."
MHP Deputy Chairman Feti Yıldız has made a statement regarding prisoners sentenced to jail who are ill. Sharing on his social media account, Yıldız said, "If the execution of a prison sentence poses a definite danger to the prisoner's life, the postponement of the execution until recovery should not be a matter of debate."
In his statement, pointing to Article 17 of the Constitution and Human Rights Conventions, Yıldız used the following expressions:
"As stated in Human Rights Conventions and Article 17 of our Constitution; 'every human being has the inherent right to life.' The right to life, which ranks first in terms of value among human rights, is the reason for the existence of all other rights. The state is obliged to respect this right and is tasked with protecting it effectively. The right to life has special importance for convicts, detainees, and persons in custody. Because these individuals are under the control and supervision of the state."
