Statement from the Ministry of National Defense on 'smartphones'! Work has reached the final stage

Ministry of National Defense sources have made a statement regarding the use of smartphones by personnel on duty in operational areas. In the assessment provided, it was stated: "Our work has reached the final stage, but we have not yet issued the order regarding this. Serious measures will be taken, especially for operational areas."

A weekly briefing meeting was held at the Ministry of National Defense. The statement, which first addressed the fight against terrorism, included the following remarks:

"Our Turkish Armed Forces continue their fight against all kinds of threats and dangers, especially the PKK/KCK/PYD-YPG, DAESH, and FETO terrorist organizations, with increasing pressure and at an intense pace, within the framework of our dynamic and proactive defense and security strategy that envisions eliminating threats at their source. In this context, including northern Iraq and Syria, 36 terrorists have been neutralized in the last week, and the number of terrorists neutralized since 2023 has reached 2,237.

Furthermore, a total of 24 targets, consisting of caves, shelters, bunkers, and warehouses, where it is assessed that terrorists at the leadership level were also present, were successfully destroyed in air operations carried out on December 29 against terrorist targets in Metina, Gara, Hakurk, and Asos in northern Iraq. A large number of terrorists were neutralized in the operations, in which a maximum amount of domestic and national ammunition was used."

DENIAL REGARDING MINESWEEPING SHIPS

Ministry sources denied allegations that permission had been granted for minesweeping ships that the UK wants to send to Ukraine to pass through the Bosphorus. Stating that "The claim that Turkey acted contrary to the Montreux Convention by allowing the passage of minesweeping ships sent by the United Kingdom to Ukraine absolutely does not reflect the truth," the sources said: "Since the beginning of the war, Turkey is the first country to characterize the situation as a war and take practical measures. In this direction, Turkey has stopped the passage of warring parties through the Straits in accordance with the Montreux Straits Convention, which it has implemented with sensitivity since 1936. In this context, since the beginning of the war, no warship carrying the flags of the warring parties has been allowed to pass through the Straits."

PAID MILITARY SERVICE FEE

In response to a question about whether the process regarding the incident at the Tuzla Infantry School has been completed, the answer was: "The judicial investigation is ongoing. The High Disciplinary Board will also make its decision within January." Regarding the question about the paid military service fee, it was stated: "Information regarding the paid military service amount for the first six months of 2024 will be provided following the publication of the 'Financial and Social Rights' circular."
