Statement from the Presidency of Religious Affairs on 'official vehicle': 'Completion of its economic life...'
While criticisms were being voiced that the public austerity measures of Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek were insufficient, it was revealed that a new official vehicle had been added to the inventory of the Presidency of Religious Affairs. Following the criticisms, a statement was issued by the Presidency of Religious Affairs.
In the statement made by the Presidency, it was stated that the reports in some media outlets regarding the vehicles used by the President of Religious Affairs Ali Erbaş were unfounded.
The Presidency of Religious Affairs reported that the 2010 model vehicle used for official services frequently broke down, that a TOGG brand vehicle is being used for official services, and that the vehicle subject to the reports was rented due to the Presidency's intensive out-of-town programs.
"DUE TO FREQUENT BREAKDOWNS..."
In the statement, which noted that a 2010 model vehicle was allocated to the institution by the Prime Ministry in 2016 to be used for the Presidency's official services, the following was recorded:
"The vehicle, which has been used by our institution since that day, has begun to fail to meet needs due to the completion of its economic life and frequent breakdowns.
The TOGG brand vehicle, which entered our Presidency's inventory as of 2023, is being used for official services.
The vehicle subject to the reports is rented out of necessity due to the Presidency's intensive out-of-town programs."
