In the statement made by the General Directorate of Prisons and Detention Houses, it was stated, "On the last day of every month, in accordance with legal regulations, inventory counts are conducted in the canteens and warehouses of penal institutions."

The General Directorate's statement referenced social media posts claiming that inmates and convicts at the Marmara Penal Institution campus in Silivri were unable to meet their canteen needs.

The statement included the following remarks:

"Furthermore, the canteen needs of convicts and inmates are met within a determined schedule. Canteen orders are taken and delivered every weekday during specified hours. There has been no disruption in canteen services, including during the Ramadan Feast holiday, and all necessary products have been provided.

On the last day of every month, in accordance with legal regulations, inventory counts are conducted in the canteens and warehouses of penal institutions. For this reason, sales will not be possible at the canteen on Monday, March 31, 2025. However, this situation was notified to the inmates and convicts in advance, and the necessary accommodations were made for them to meet their needs."

The statement also noted that water, hygiene supplies, and basic food items are provided free of charge by the institution to those staying in penal institutions who do not have sufficient balances in their accounts.
