Statement on CHP from PKK's Duran Kalkan: "If they do this to the party that founded the Republic, what wouldn't they do to those who mention the name of the Kurd?"

PKK leader Duran Kalkan made assessments regarding the "absolute nullity" decision against the CHP and the process of evacuating the party's headquarters by police force. Criticizing the decisions in harsh language, Kalkan argued that "freedom laws," which would foresee the organization's transition from armed struggle to democratic politics, must be enacted as soon as possible.

According to information reported by the Mezopotamya Agency (MA) from MedyaHaber, Duran Kalkan, one of the founders of the organization, expressed his legal expectations regarding the resolution process and targeted the government by addressing the judicial interventions occurring within the main opposition party.

"IF APO'S PATH IS OPENED, EVERYONE WILL COME TO HIS SIDE"

Stating that the legal regulations alleged to be coming to Parliament in April have not been implemented, Kalkan claimed that the government must take sincere steps regarding a resolution and presented the following roadmap:

"No steps have been taken. If they are serious about a resolution, I am presenting a clear roadmap. The second phase must be initiated, and laws for democratic politics must be enacted. A 'freedom law' must be passed that will ensure, first and foremost, that Rêber Apo attains conditions where he can live and work freely. Rêber Apo must begin to engage in politics, and the path for democratic politics must be opened. The moment this is achieved, everyone from Europe and from the mountains will come to his side. We did not just decide to stop the armed struggle; we transitioned from a strategy of political struggle to a strategy of democratic politics. However, the government is pursuing liquidation."

"ÖZGÜR ÖZEL IS BEING TARGETED BECAUSE HE SPOKE OF THE KURDISH PEOPLE"

Describing the processes of canceling the CHP's party congress and the evacuation of the headquarters building as a "coup carried out by the judiciary," Duran Kalkan criticized the current situation with these words:

"In the past, coups were planned in military headquarters; now they are planned in judicial chambers. The AK Party uses the judiciary to suppress its rivals. Özgür Özel is being targeted because he spoke of the Kurdish people and the rights of the Kurds. Devlet Bahçeli reacted to this immediately because there is not even the name of the Kurd in their roadmap. The CHP leadership must not take a step back in the face of these pressures. If they do this even to the party that founded the Republic, what wouldn't they do to those who mention the name of the Kurd? These antidemocratic attacks stem from the system's intolerance toward the Kurdish issue."
