Statement on the 'People's Alliance' from MHP's Feti Yıldız
The echoes of Devlet Bahçeli's statement, "If we are a barrier to the sustainability of the atmosphere of normalization and softening, we will do what is necessary," continue. Following AKP Spokesperson Ömer Çelik, MHP Deputy Chairman Feti Yıldız has issued a series of statements.
Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) Deputy Chairman Feti Yıldız responded to the statement made by AKP spokesperson Ömer Çelik, which did not explicitly name Bahçeli or the MHP.
Making a statement via his social media account, Yıldız said, "The People's Alliance will continue to be on the side of the righteous, to ensure the full experience of fundamental rights and freedoms, and to be the guarantor of democracy, human rights, and the rule of law." Yıldız added, "The People's Alliance is not just an electoral alliance; it is a national and moral stance against hostile domestic and foreign initiatives directed at Turkey, and a historic unity to be maintained within this framework."
WHAT HAPPENED?
MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli had made the following statement after the meeting between President and AKP Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and CHP Chairman Özgür Özel at the CHP Headquarters:
Taking into account the fact that the disgruntled segment within the AK Party is constantly muddying the waters, it is the sincere wish and hope of the Nationalist Movement Party that a broad-based alliance will emerge between the AK Party and the CHP, with the support of the other elements of the six-party table. Despite this, our commitment to the People's Alliance will continue with determination, and our support for legislative proposals in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) will continue as is.
