Statements on the 'Izmir' earthquake from Naci Görür and Ahmet Ercan! 'It can produce earthquakes up to magnitude 6'

The Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) announced that a 3.9 magnitude earthquake occurred in the Buca district of Izmir at 23:53. Following the earthquake, Prof. Dr. Naci Görür made a statement on his X account.

Görür stated, "An earthquake of the same magnitude occurred in the same place on October 1, 2023. The earthquake is between the Izmir and Dağkızılca faults. These faults are components of the fault system on the southern border of the Gediz Graben."

In his post, Görür said the following:

"Friends, a 4.0 magnitude earthquake occurred in Zafer-Buca/Izmir. An earthquake of the same magnitude occurred in the same place on October 1, 2023. The earthquake is between the Izmir and Dağkızılca faults. These faults are components of the fault system on the southern border of the Gediz Graben. Get well soon. With love"

AHMET ERCAN: IT CAN PRODUCE EARTHQUAKES UP TO MAGNITUDE 6

On the other hand, Prof. Dr. Ahmet Ercan also commented on the Izmir earthquake, stating, "The small M4.0 magnitude earthquake that occurred last night at 23:53 in Zafer, Buca, Izmir, at a focal depth of 12 km on the Tuzla fault, was chilling. The Tuzla fault is under stress. It can produce earthquakes up to M6. However, I do not think it will be destructive except for village houses. Solid ground, solid house."
