Stone and stick brawl between neighbors following grass fire
In the Yunusemre district of Manisa, an argument between two neighboring families following a grass fire quickly escalated into a violent brawl. Six people were detained and three were slightly injured in the incident. Further escalation was prevented by the rapid intervention of police and medical teams.
A fire of undetermined origin broke out in a grassy area near a residential zone around 16:00 in the vicinity of Doğan Küme Evleri in the Mareşal Fevzi Çakmak neighborhood of the Yunusemre district. The flames approaching houses caused a brief panic in the neighborhood. With the intervention of fire crews, the fire was brought under control and extinguished before it could spread.
Immediately after the fire was completely extinguished, tension arose between two neighboring families in the area.
Following allegations that children played a role in starting the fire, the argument that began between the families suddenly turned into a brawl involving stones and sticks. Upon reports from neighborhood residents, a large number of police and medical teams, as well as riot police, were dispatched to the scene.
Police teams intervened to ensure security in the neighborhood. During the investigations at the scene, a total of six people from the two families were detained due to the brawl.
Three people who were slightly injured declined to go to the hospital and were treated on-site in ambulances. It was also determined that a pump-action shotgun was fired into the air during the incident and that the weapon was seized by the police.
