Striking claim from Israeli media: This is how Hamas deceived Israeli intelligence
The Hebrew-language website Walla in Israel reported that Hamas deceived Israeli intelligence for 18 months prior to its October 7 attack.
The report by the Walla website includes details regarding the "deception" carried out by Hamas and Palestinian groups before the "Al-Aqsa Flood" operation launched on the morning of October 7.
The report states that in the 18 months leading up to the operation, Hamas "deliberately shared training videos" and misled Israeli intelligence by conducting "ridiculous and unprofessional" drills.
HAMAS DELIBERATELY SHARED DRILL VIDEOS
The report notes that while Hamas was intentionally sharing information and videos regarding its members' drills before October 7, it steered Israeli intelligence services into believing they were "conducting routine training."
"For 18 months, Hamas engaged in deception to prepare for a surprise, large-scale attack," the report stated, noting that these drills, which had become routine, were also broadcast in Palestinian media.
It was noted that the "senses" of the Israeli army and intelligence were "dulled" in this manner so that high-ranking Israeli commanders would "not go on high alert."
UNPROFESSIONAL DRILLS
The report included information that in Hamas's drills, "missiles were fired toward the sea, ranges were measured, and ammunition training was provided."
It was emphasized that the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, prepared drill clips as part of an "operation of deception and conditioning."
It was stated that the drill videos, which showed Hamas members jumping through rings of fire, rolling on the ground, or jumping from motorcycles or cars, were deemed "absurd and unprofessional" by Israeli intelligence.
