Striking claim from IYI Party figure: 'I don't think Akşener will be a candidate at this convention'

Discussions and resignations continue within the IYI Party, which entered the March 31 Local Elections independently and faced disappointment at the end of the election. 

İYİ Party Chair Meral Akşener decided to hold an extraordinary convention while her resignation was expected following the election.

İYİ Party Antalya Deputy and former IYI Party Secretary General Uğur Poyraz was a guest on a live broadcast on tv100.

Poyraz said he thinks Akşener will not be a candidate at the IYI Party Convention. Poyraz made the following statement:

"As you know, conventions are areas where delegates make decisions. To be a candidate at a convention, a sufficient number of delegates must nominate you.

Whether or not the Chairwoman becomes a candidate is a matter related to her own will. In this process, as the Chair of a political party, Ms. Akşener is obligated to take her party to a convention.

Therefore, she has made the decision to take her party to a convention.

"I THINK AKŞENER WILL NOT BE A CANDIDATE"

Ms. Akşener has a clear statement regarding this matter.

Following her clear statement, she made a decision for a Convention.

When you put all of these together, I think Meral Akşener will not be a candidate at this convention."
