Strong northeasterly winds hit Istanbul: Gülhane Park temporarily closed

According to data from the General Directorate of Meteorology, the wind, which has been blowing at speeds of 40 to 60 kilometers per hour throughout the day in Istanbul, is reported to potentially reach up to 80 kilometers per hour in some areas.

This situation brings with it dangers such as roofs being blown off and trees falling. The Istanbul Governor's Office has warned citizens to be cautious against such negative incidents.

The Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality announced that Gülhane Park has been temporarily closed due to the risk of falling trees.

Visitors arriving at the park were turned away by officials, who stated that entry is prohibited until the risk has passed. These measures were taken to prevent potential dangers.

In a statement made by AKOM, it was noted that the strong northeasterly wind, which has been effective since the morning hours, will intensify further in the evening.

It was stated that short-term and intense storm surges and heavy rainfall could affect the entire city, and that cancellations and delays in maritime transport may occur. For this reason, citizens were advised not to go out unless necessary.
