NOT THE FIRST INCIDENT IN ESKİŞEHİR

21-year-old Resul Alan, a student at Eskişehir Anadolu University, had ended his life in the campus cafeteria last week.

In the note he left behind, Alan wrote, "Young people and children are committing suicide in Turkey every day and nothing changes. It isn't even reported anymore. ... I wish we didn't live in such a filthy society, I wish the country were in a better state," and concluded his letter with the Kurdish phrase "Li xwe baş binerin. Bi xatirâ we," which means "Take care of yourselves, goodbye."
