Student under house arrest: 'We are not committing a crime, all we want is justice and freedom'

Arda Karademir, a second-year student at Galatasaray University Faculty of Business Administration, has been under house arrest for approximately 40 days after being detained in a dawn raid conducted before May 1st.

In an interview with ANKA News Agency, Karademir stated that the allegations are baseless, saying, "We are not committing a crime. All we want is justice and freedom." He further added, "I am being held captive under house arrest because there is allegedly a suspicion of evidence tampering or flight risk."

Karademir was detained on the morning of April 30th in a dawn raid on the dormitory where he was staying. Held in custody for four days, Karademir remained in poor conditions, his means of communication were blocked, and his requests for medication were not met. 

Karademir has been kept under house arrest for exactly 40 days by the prosecutor's decision. Arda Karademir, a second-year student at Galatasaray University Faculty of Business Administration, said, "The indictment has not been prepared yet, and the court date is not set; this uncertainty puts both us and our fellow students in a difficult situation." 

The student's lawyer, Mustafa Atahan Öztürk, also emphasized that unlawful procedures were carried out, stating that his client is being "subjected to persecution."
