Successive reactions from Turkey to Netanyahu's applause in the US Congress

Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç made a statement on his social media account regarding Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's speech at the US Congress.

Minister Tunç's statement included the following remarks:

"It is shameful for humanity that Netanyahu, who does not comply with the UN Security Council's ceasefire resolution, continues the genocide despite the precautionary measures taken by the International Court of Justice, for whom an arrest warrant has been requested by the Chief Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court on charges of committing genocide, and who has massacred more than 40 thousand innocent civilians—children, women, youth, and elderly alike—since October 7, is allowed to speak at the US Congress. I strongly condemn this attitude, which clearly harms the efforts to achieve peace and stability."

"The support shown to Netanyahu and Israeli officials, who are condemned by the conscience of humanity, will not prevent them from being held accountable before international law. As Turkey, we will continue to stand by our Palestinian brothers and sisters whose lands have been under occupation for years, and to defend justice, fairness, and peace in the world."

Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey Numan Kurtulmuş reacted to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu receiving a standing ovation while speaking at the US Congress in Washington.

Kurtulmuş said the following in his social media post:

"The crowd that 'gave a standing ovation' to a mass murderer who is being tried in international courts, while trampling on all the achievements of humanity in the name of human rights, democracy, and justice, has been etched into the memory of humanity as accomplices to this massacre. Shame on you..."

Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz, in a statement on his social media account regarding Netanyahu's speech at the US Congress, noted the following:

"The shameful reception received in the US Congress by an official who is a defendant before the International Court of Justice for committing genocide in Gaza is concerning for the future of humanitarian values, international law, and democracy. Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya, in a statement on his social media account regarding Netanyahu's speech at the US Congress, noted the following:

"History will never forget the cruelty of the oppressors, nor those who applaud the child-murdering oppressors. What happened today is a shameful scene for humanity. We will continue to stand by the oppressed, the innocent, and our Palestinian brothers and sisters."
