Süleyman Soylu recounts the events of the night of July 15: 'If he had come to Çankaya, we would have killed him'

Eight years have passed since the July 15, 2016, coup attempt by the Fethullahist Terrorist Organization (FETÖ).

Former Interior Minister and AKP Istanbul Deputy Süleyman Soylu recounted his experiences on the night of July 15.

Speaking to Soner Yalçın at Oda TV, Soylu said, "If the pasha leading the coup had come to Çankaya, we would have killed him there."

"I FIRST PUT THE GUN IN MY WAISTBAND"

Stating that he first spoke with his father on the phone on the night of July 15, Soylu said the following:

"First, I spoke with my father on the phone, and we bid each other farewell. As I was leaving the Çankaya Mansion, I put my gun in my waistband.

I told those at the Çankaya Mansion that this place is your honor; shoot anyone who comes here other than us!

SOYLU: IF THAT PASHA HAD COME TO ÇANKAYA, WE WOULD HAVE KILLED HIM

The moment I entered the TRT building, I came face to face with the lieutenant colonel who was raiding it. I hit his radio. The radio fell, and we also tore the lieutenant colonel's uniform.

If the pasha who was carrying out the coup, meaning the one in charge, had come to the Çankaya Mansion, we would have killed him there."
