Sumud Flotilla activists brought to Turkey undergo health checks

A total of 59 activists, including 18 Turkish citizens, who were part of the Global Sumud Flotilla that set sail to deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza and were detained by Israel in international waters, have been brought to Istanbul on a special flight. The activists, who were referred to the Council of Forensic Medicine for health checks, left the institution after the examinations were completed.

THEY HAD BEEN DETAINED BY ISRAEL

It was learned that the Global Sumud Flotilla, which set out to deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza, departed from Barcelona, Spain, on April 12 as part of its 2026 Spring Mission. The flotilla, which grew with participants from different countries, reached 345 participants from 39 countries. On the night of April 29, the flotilla was subjected to intervention by the Israeli military in international waters off the coast of Crete. It was stated that a large number of activists were detained following the intervention.
