Sunday warning in Istanbul: These weather conditions can be misleading
Citizens in and around Istanbul will encounter a temporary "false spring" this weekend; while warm weather will be effective on Sunday, rainy weather will return as of Monday.
According to information received from the Meteorological Service, the heavy rainfall that has affected a large part of the country throughout the week will give way to a single day of sunny and warm weather on Sunday. The warm air wave, which will reach the western regions in particular via Africa, will bring a short-lived spring atmosphere with temperatures well above seasonal norms in many cities, especially Istanbul.
This short-term warming is expected to create favorable conditions for those planning to go out in the city over the weekend. However, experts emphasized that this warm air current is not permanent and that the "false spring" will only cover Sunday. With this short 24-hour change in weather, cool and rainy weather is expected again in and around Istanbul as of Monday morning.
Immediately after the warm weather, rainfall will increase its effect again with the start of the new week. Meteorological officials underlined that the sunny weather to be seen on Sunday is temporary and stated that citizens will encounter heavy and locally strong rainfall next week.
Since a sudden drop in temperatures will be observed after the one-day "false spring" and the weather will return to winter conditions, authorities advise citizens to be careful against the change in weather. The new rainy system is expected to be effective across Turkey in the coming days.
