Support message from Volkan Konak to Ekrem İmamoğlu: 'Shame on those who commit fouls in politics'
CHP presidential candidate hopeful Ekrem İmamoğlu has been arrested and sent to Silivri Prison. Reacting to İmamoğlu's arrest, Volkan Konak expressed his support in a message he shared.
Famous singer Volkan Konak announced his support for the arrested Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu via social media. Konak wrote, 'He will always remain a very precious friend to me, and I will always stand by him.'
While reactions to İmamoğlu's arrest continue, artists as well as the public have expressed their support. Volkan Konak stated that he stands with İmamoğlu during this process.
In a statement on his social media account, Konak recalled that İmamoğlu preferred to be a goalkeeper when playing football, and used the following expressions:
''My dear friend Ekrem İmamoğlu always chose to be the goalkeeper even when playing football; why? So as not to turn his back on his teammates. Throughout his life, he never compromised his sportsmanship and nobility. Shame on those who commit fouls against Mayor Ekrem in politics. He will always remain a very precious friend to me, and I will always stand by him.''
