Suspect who killed his friend and left the body unrecognizable caught 18 years later

The Homicide Bureau of the Eskişehir Police Department has solved a murder committed 18 years ago, determining that Erhan Kübra, who was reported missing in Eskişehir in 2006, had been killed in Kütahya around the same time and that his body could not be identified because it was unrecognizable. The close friend who killed Erhan Kübra and a suspect determined to have assisted him have been referred to the courthouse.

Suspect who killed his friend and left the body unrecognizable caught 18 years later

Erhan Kübra, who lived in Eskişehir, suddenly disappeared in 2006. His relatives, unable to reach Erhan Kübra, filed a missing person report. Searches conducted in 2006 yielded no results, and Erhan Kübra was added to the list of missing persons.

The Homicide Bureau of the Eskişehir Police Department's Public Security Branch launched an investigation to locate missing persons in Eskişehir and solve cold cases.

A special team was formed by the Homicide Bureau to find Erhan Kübra, who was listed as missing. The team first examined unsolved cases from 2006 in Eskişehir and surrounding provinces to determine whether Erhan Kübra was still alive.

As a result of the work, it was determined that around the time Erhan Kübra died, an unrecognizable male body was found in a village near the city center of Kütahya, and identification could not be performed.

The special team, evaluating that the male body—which was found to have a crushed head, multiple stab wounds to the chest, a partially burned torso, and hands tied with a necktie—could belong to Erhan Kübra, intensified their efforts.

Traces and DNA samples from the area where the body was found were compared with the DNA of A.K., a close friend and business partner of Erhan Kübra. As a result of the DNA match, A.K. and Y.Ş., who was determined to have helped commit the murder, were taken into custody in Kütahya by the Homicide Bureau teams of the Eskişehir Police Department. Thus, the murder committed 18 years ago was solved.

''I DIDN'T DO ANYTHING''

A.K. and Y.Ş., who were taken into custody in Kütahya and brought to Eskişehir, did not accept the accusations in their statements at the Eskişehir Police Department Public Security Branch. After the procedures at the police station, A.K., one of the suspects referred to the Eskişehir Courthouse, responded to reporters' question, "Didn't you feel any remorse all these years?" by saying, "I didn't do anything, why should I feel remorse?"

As a result of the work carried out by the special team, it was determined that A.K. had stabbed Erhan Kübra multiple times in the chest, crushed his head to make him unrecognizable, partially burned his body, tied his hands with a necktie, and then buried him in his own village.

It was determined that because the body was not buried properly, it was found shortly after the incident in 2006, and identification could not be performed at that time.
