Suspicions grow in death of Roketsan engineer Yücel: There were bruises on his face

The incident occurred on January 3 in the Yenimahalle district. Friends of Yusuf Serdar Yücel (25), a software engineer working at Roketsan, notified the police after being unable to reach him for days. Yücel's lifeless body was found in the home after police teams entered the premises. Following initial examinations, the young man's body was taken to the Forensic Medicine Institute and later handed over to his family. While Yücel was laid to rest in his hometown of Isparta, it was stated that initial investigations suggest he committed suicide by ingesting sodium nitrate. It was reported that the investigation into the incident is continuing.

“THERE WAS A BRUISE ON HIS FACE”

Speaking about the incident, one of the young man's neighbors, Fuat Yıldırım, said, “The house had become unbearable due to the smell. There were police outside. When I asked what happened, they said there was a funeral. The deceased reportedly had no bruising or signs of assault on his body; he was found dead in his bed. There was only a bruise on his face. We would greet each other when we met. Once, I noticed his front door was open. When we went inside, everything was messy and alcohol bottles were scattered around. We warned him, saying, 'Don't leave your door open.' I haven't seen any problems with him until today. He was a quiet person. He was a good person; I never saw any harm from him.”

“THE DECEASED WAS NOT REGISTERED AT THIS ADDRESS”

Neighborhood headman (Muhtar) Hayrullah Gürbüz stated, “Three young people came to me and said they hadn't been able to reach their friend for three days. I told them I couldn't help them and that they needed to apply to the police. They did as I said. Police teams came here. Two people were residing here, one of whom had left 10 days ago. We reached the building manager and called the person who had moved out. He brought the key, and we entered the house accompanied by the police. The police teams said the person inside was dead. Teams came and conducted investigations. We heard that there were drugs inside and that they would be examined. The deceased reportedly had no wounds. The deceased was not registered at this house; his residence was not here,” he said.
