Suspicious package alert in Sultangazi: Roads closed, extensive security measures taken
In Istanbul's Sultangazi district, a box inspected on suspicion of containing an explosive device was found to hold wires and cotton. Police have taken the box for examination, considering the possibility that it may have been prepared as an improvised explosive device.
Citizens who saw wires hanging out of a box on the ground at the 15 July Democracy and Martyrs Square in the Cebeci neighborhood of Sultangazi reported the situation to the police.
Upon the report, bomb disposal teams were dispatched to the area.
While a security cordon was set up on Atatürk Boulevard, where the square is located, checks revealed that the coffee tin contained cotton and wires.
Police have taken the box for examination, considering the possibility that it may have been prepared as an improvised explosive device.
