Teacher mocked by students fell from the podium and broke their arm

Footage filmed at Kocatepe Mimar Kemal Anatolian High School in the center of Ankara has sparked widespread outrage by revealing students' disrespectful behavior toward a teacher during class. It was reported that the injured teacher was taken to the hospital and is being kept under observation as a precaution.

According to the report in Birgün, Eğitim-İş Union President Kadem Özbay made the following statements regarding the development:

“The fact that students subject their teacher to verbal and physical bullying, that this is seen as if it were a game, and that the majority of the class does not react to the incident shows how dangerous a threshold has been crossed socially. This picture is not an isolated behavior. This is a natural consequence of the AKP government's policies that have ignored, discredited, and made teachers insecure for years.”
