Tens of thousands sign for Ahmet Minguzzi, demand for justice echoed

According to data compiled by Change.org Turkey from petition campaigns in the first 3 months of 2025, 892,757 signatures were collected in 1,143 campaigns launched in the first quarter of the year. 

The highest number of signatures was collected for the justice campaign launched following the killing of Mattia Ahmet Minguzzi. During the same period, 15 petition campaigns reached their goals.

According to data compiled by Change.org Turkey from petition campaigns in the first 3 months of 2025, the campaign that received the most support in the first quarter of the year was the one launched with a demand for justice for Mattia Ahmet Minguzzi, with nearly 200,000 signatures.

The collected signatures demonstrated the public's strong demand for justice ahead of the first hearing held yesterday. The campaign, initiated by a citizen named Merve Şahinkaya and supported by Mattia Ahmet's family, demands that Ahmet's killers receive sentences without any reductions and that new regulations be implemented for crimes committed by individuals under the age of 18.

DEMAND FOR JUSTICE STANDS OUT

The three most-signed campaigns in the first quarter of 2025 were focused on criminal justice. The fact that the three most-signed campaigns were related to the justice system highlighted public sensitivity and the search for justice, especially in cases where young people and children have lost their lives.
