Tension in front of the Iranian Consulate in Istanbul: Opposing group attempted to intervene

At the call of lawyer Feyza Altun, a group of Iranian dissidents wanted to hold a press statement in front of the Iranian Consulate in Istanbul. However, following a statement from the Fatih District Governorate, the press conference was not permitted. The District Governorate stated that the announcement was banned due to security and public order concerns.

THE DEBATE CONTINUED AT A CAFE

Following this, the group headed to a cafe near the consulate. In the press statement made there, support was expressed for the protests in Iran, and a change in government was demanded. During the statements, slogans supporting the former Shah of Iran, Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, were chanted.

INTERVENTION BY AN OPPOSING GROUP

During the statement, another group entered the cafe and attempted to prevent the press conference from taking place by chanting slogans such as "I do not want Zionists in my country" and "Zionist Shah." Both groups were forced to leave the cafe before the tension escalated further.
