Tension in the Ayhan Bora Kaplan trial! Soylu's name enters the records...

The 12th session of the trial, held by the Ankara 32nd High Criminal Court at the Sincan Prison campus, began today with the statement of İlhan Tatar, the brother of the murdered Mahfuz Tatar, and the ensuing arguments.

İlhan Tatar stated that the murder was covered up by political powers and the bureaucracy, that their complaints were not recorded, and that the court panel was changed every time, demanding that the defendants be punished in the harshest possible manner.

Bora Kaplan's lawyer, Umut Köroğlu, offered his condolences and then asked İlhan Tatar if he had witnessed the murder. Tatar said he had not.

The following arguments took place during Bora Kaplan's questions:

Kaplan: Where did he hear what is mentioned in his statement, and on what basis did he give this statement?

Tatar: This person is a drug dealer.

Kaplan: You are the drug dealer. Speak properly, you disrespectful person.

Tatar: He said, 'We are not involved in this, let's give whatever he wants and close it.' Would someone not involved in the matter say this?

Kaplan: That was not my question. (When Tatar repeated his words) Hey, just shut up.

Presiding Judge: Do not speak as if you are scolding.

Kaplan: He is not answering my questions.

Tatar: Who are you for me to answer?

Kaplan: Who are you, man? When did Ümit Günay go to him? Ümit Günay is in prison, let's call him and ask.

Tatar: According to you, everything is a lie anyway. You are as pure as the driven snow.

Kaplan: Do you have a problem with your uncle Arslan Tatar?

Tatar: This subject does not concern him, we will see you... We will seek our own justice ourselves...

Kaplan: Why didn't you file a complaint against me before?... Does your brother deal drugs?

Tatar: The ones who deal drugs are you and Süleyman Soylu.

Kaplan: Don't be insolent. Don't say anything about state officials. If you curse, you will get a response.

After these arguments, İlhan Tatar's lawyer requested a break for his client to calm down. As Tatar was leaving the location where he was connected via SEGBİS, Bora Kaplan shouted, "Kolpaçino, huh...", to which the Presiding Judge reacted by saying, "Don't be rude."

While waiting for İlhan Tatar to calm down and return, Bora Kaplan reminded the court that he had not received answers to his questions. The Presiding Judge replied, "His statement is not based on direct observation. It is hearsay, rumor." Upon this, Kaplan said, "Then there is no need for me to ask questions."

After İlhan Tatar, his lawyer, who made a statement, noted that the murder file had been obscured and said that the claim that Bora Kaplan was not at the scene did not reflect the truth.

After witness Y. D. was also heard, the Presiding Judge announced that there were no more witnesses or victims to be heard today and took the requests of the defendants and their lawyers.

KAPLAN: THE PLOT IS NOT AGAINST THE STATE

Defendant Barış Kurt requested to make a statement tomorrow.

Bora Kaplan, while again blaming the Organized Crime Bureau (KOM) and the media, summarized his points as follows:

"This file is a file prepared from beginning to end with the fabrications of Murat Çelik and his team. They say it is a plot against the state. No, as I said from the first day, this is a plot against me. The secret witness is fleeing via Greece. I am going to flee from Esenboğa with my own passport, is that it? Am I that stupid? If I am an organized crime leader, why didn't the police who carried out the operation have bulletproof vests?"

Repeating that during his police interrogation, they demanded and wrote down names of politicians, bureaucrats, and members of the judiciary from everyone through threats, and that they also demanded names from him, Kaplan continued:

"Yes, I gave them the police officers too. Because they threatened me with my family, I was forced to. They told me, 'Give this statement, we will close the MASAK file completely, we will lift the measures.' What wouldn't those who made me do this make others do? The statements they obtained are garbage... Is it normal for them to ask where I got the weapons on July 15? There is a law regarding that day; the crimes committed that day have been pardoned."

HE HAS NOT RECEIVED A LOAN FROM ANY PUBLIC BANK

Bora Kaplan, while advocating for this file to be started from scratch and claiming that the opposition media was attacking him, also said:

"To know a man, you have to look at his enemies. I was cursed on July 15. But if it were today, I would break the prison bars and get out, and I would do the same things. I don't think these events are a plot against the state. It is purely power intoxication. Murat Çelik is an arrogant, egoist person. I hope Şevket Demircan gets out. Murat Çelik used him. I cursed Servet Yılmaz, the next day his son fell off a horse and broke his arm. I cursed them, they were arrested. I hope my curse also hits the prosecutor who abetted them."

At the end of his statement, regarding the allegation that he received loans from public banks, Kaplan said, "If they prove that I received a loan from a single state bank, not 700 thousand, but 100 thousand liras, I will cut off my arm. There is no such thing in the file. I am going to go crazy, you are writing these things, have a little conscience."

Kaplan claimed that Muhammet Sağ, who fled abroad and made some revelations about the alleged organization, was not a business person but someone who defected from the PKK, and requested his release.

"FEAR GOD, NOT THE PUBLIC"

Defendant Muhammet Kaplan also stated that the Mahfuz Tatar murder was made to look like it had been covered up, whereas his cousin and others had identified him and he had served his sentence for this murder, saying, "I ask Sözcü TV and Halk TV to leave us alone. I ask you not to fear the public, but to fear God."
