Tensions escalate in the Middle East: Rocket attack launched on Israel

At least one person has died and 14 others have been injured in rocket attacks carried out by Lebanon's Hezbollah in northern Israel. Approximately 100 rockets fired from Lebanon struck Israel's Haifa and Galilee regions, causing material damage in many locations.

THE ATTACK BEGAN IN THE MORNING HOURS

According to a statement by the Israeli military, nearly 100 rockets were fired from Lebanon toward the Haifa and Galilee regions starting in the morning. While one person lost their life in the Acre region where the rockets fell, 5 people were injured in the Kiryat Ata area around Haifa. A rocket that struck a house in the settlement of Shlomi, near the border, caused 4 people to be injured. According to Channel 14 television, a total of 14 people were injured in the attacks.

Footage of Israel's air defense systems destroying some of the rockets in the air was shared on social media. Fires broke out in the places where the rockets hit, and thick clouds of smoke rose into the sky.

NETANYAHU'S HOUSE WAS ALSO TARGETED

Following the rocket attacks, an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) launched from Lebanon struck the area in the Israeli city of Caesarea where Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's residence is located. A statement from the Israeli Prime Minister's Office indicated that Netanyahu and his wife were not at home during the attack. While there were no injuries in the incident, images were shared on social media showing damage to bulletproof glass at a house alleged to be Netanyahu's residence.

STATEMENT FROM HEZBOLLAH

Lebanon's Hezbollah claimed responsibility for the rocket attacks in written statements. The statement expressed that "a series of attacks were carried out with various munitions on regions in northern Israel in response to Israel's attacks on civilians, in solidarity with the resistance of the Palestinian people in Gaza, and for the defense of Lebanon and its people." Hezbollah stated that 8 separate attacks had been carried out since the night hours, particularly targeting military points in the Haifa Bay and Galilee region.
