Tensions in Nusaybin continue for the second day: 6 journalists detained, 48 people arrested in Iğdır
Tensions that began following the DEM Party's group meeting in Nusaybin continued into their second day. It was reported that 6 journalists were detained in Nusaybin, and 48 people, including the co-mayor, were detained in Iğdır.
Tensions that erupted in the Nusaybin district of Mardin following the DEM Party's group meeting yesterday continued today. Police intervention occurred during the march held on the second day.
Following the clashes between the Damascus administration and the SDF in Syria, Ankara's support for Ahmed Shara was harshly criticized by the DEM Party. Consequently, the DEM Party made a last-minute decision to hold its group meeting in Nusaybin, on the Syrian border.
In speeches made after the mass march, DEM Party Co-Chairs Tuncer Bakırhan and Tülay Hatimoğulları used harsh language toward President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli. During the speeches, police intervened against the group attempting to head toward the border line.
INVESTIGATION AFTER FLAG ATTACK
Following the tensions, footage emerged showing the Turkish flag being lowered from its pole and attacked. Statements were issued by the DEM Party and various political actors following the incident. The DEM Party stated that they have no issues regarding the flag. Within the scope of the investigation launched by the Mardin Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, 14 people were detained today.

TENSIONS ESCALATED ON THE SECOND DAY
The DEM Party announced that a second march would be held in Nusaybin today and that Tuncer Bakırhan would also participate. Tensions flared again during the march. While there was police intervention, moments of stones being thrown at the police were captured on camera.
6 JOURNALISTS DETAINED
It was reported that 6 journalists were detained during the events. According to statements from Rudaw and the Dicle Fırat Journalists Association, association co-chair Kesira Önel and journalists Ferhat Akıncı, Pelşin Çetinkaya, Muhammed Demircan, Muhammed Ali Yolmaz, Heval Önkol, and Fahrettin Kılıç were detained.
IĞDIR ALSO IN TURMOIL: 48 DETAINED
Following the developments in Nusaybin, protests also began in Iğdır. It was reported that 3 police officers were injured in the incidents in Iğdır. A total of 48 people, including DEM Party Iğdır Provincial Co-Chair Deniz Kaynar and Iğdır Municipality Co-Mayor Nejla Kum, were detained.
