Tensions remain high in Menzil Community, major brawl between two groups
Tensions are not subsiding in the Menzil Community, which has tens of thousands of members in many cities across Turkey. This time, groups within the community got into a fight in the middle of the street in Istanbul.
Following the death of the sect's sheikh, Seyyid Abdulbaki El-Hüseyni, on July 12, 2023, the community, which experienced a struggle for leadership, saw its followers split into groups gathering around different leaders.
Two groups within the community had a major dispute in Istanbul today.
A group affiliated with Menzil, which had gathered for an event in an area near the Khedive Palace in Beykoz, did not allow members of the other group to enter. Police intervened after tensions rose.
