Testimony of man who killed his wife and turned himself in to the police revealed: 'With the knife I had with me...'
The testimony of suspect Bekir Durmaz, who stabbed his wife to death inside a car in Konya, has been revealed.
Yesterday evening in the Hüsamettin Çelebi neighborhood of Konya's central Selçuklu district, a man named Bekir Durmaz (53) called his wife Elif Durmaz (37), who was in the process of separating from him, and asked to go shopping for their children's needs.
After Elif Durmaz, who was living at her sister's house, accepted her husband's offer, Bekir Durmaz picked her up in his car with license plate 42 ADD 102. Later, an argument broke out between the two due to jealousy. During the argument, Bekir Durmaz stabbed Elif Durmaz in various parts of her body with a knife he had with him.
HE KILLED HIS WIFE AND WENT TO THE POLICE STATION
The driver then went to the Özalkent Police Station with his stabbed wife in the vehicle and turned himself in. Bekir Durmaz, who told the police that he had stabbed his wife, was taken into custody. During the initial check by medical teams dispatched to the scene, it was determined that Elif Durmaz had lost her life. Following the investigation by police teams, Durmaz's lifeless body was taken to the Konya City Hospital morgue for an autopsy.
HIS TESTIMONY HAS BEEN REVEALED
It was learned that suspect Bekir Durmaz said in his initial statement at the police station, "We had been living apart for a while because my wife and I were in the process of separating. We went out shopping for the children's needs. During this time, a fight broke out due to jealousy. The incident occurred with the knife I had with me. Then I went to the nearest police station."
The suspect will be referred to the courthouse after his procedures at the police station are completed.
