Testimony of Selçuksports manager Selçuk Yılmaz revealed: 'I absolutely do not engage in illegal betting'
The testimony of Selçuk Yılmaz, the manager of the website Selçuksport, who was arrested on allegations of illegally broadcasting Süper Lig matches and directing users to illegal betting sites, has been revealed. In his statement, Yılmaz said, "The sites you asked me about do not belong to me. I do not understand computers. It is impossible for me to use such sites. I absolutely do not engage in illegal betting. An account was opened on the Selçuksport site using my registered email address from my stolen phone. The case opened following the investigation concluded about 3-4 months ago. The case was decided in my favor. My lawyers will submit the documents regarding this to the file later."
As part of the coordinated efforts of the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, the Cyber Crimes Branch Directorate, and the MIT Regional Presidency, it was determined that Turkish Süper Lig matches were being broadcast illegally and that when users logged into the site named "Selçuksport" to watch illegal match broadcasts, there were posts encouraging them to visit illegal betting sites. Investigations identified Selçuk Yılmaz as the person managing the site. The suspect, Selçuk Yılmaz, who was apprehended in Denizli, gave his statement at the Istanbul Courthouse. Following his testimony at the courthouse, Yılmaz was arrested yesterday and sent to prison.
Meanwhile, the statement Yılmaz gave to the prosecutor's office has been revealed.
"THE SITES DO NOT BELONG TO ME"
In his statement, Selçuk Yılmaz said, "I have a martial arts school in Germany. I have no other income. I previously worked in a factory for about 10 years. During that period, my wife and I had a total income of around 3,000 Euros. After leaving my job and being unemployed for about a year, I opened my martial arts school by paying 25,000 Euros. I earn 10,000 Euros a month here. However, the amount remaining for me is around 2,500 - 3,000 Euros. I travel to Cyprus for vacation purposes. I last went to Cyprus to clear my head following an argument I had with my wife regarding work. I do not have any social media accounts. The sites you asked me about do not belong to me."
"I ABSOLUTELY DO NOT ENGAGE IN ILLEGAL BETTING"
Continuing his statement, Yılmaz said, "I am a high school graduate. I went abroad at the age of 24. Until that age, I worked in construction. I did not have a computer during those times. I do not understand computers. It is impossible for me to use such sites. I absolutely do not engage in illegal betting. An account was opened on the Selçuksport site using my registered email address from my stolen phone. The case opened following the investigation concluded about three or four months ago. The case was decided in my favor. My lawyers will submit the documents regarding this to the file later. I do not accept the accusations leveled against me."
