The balance sheet for promotional spending in local elections is out! Billions will be spent
Promotional spending for the local elections to be held on March 31, 2024, is expected to exceed 10 billion liras. Industry representatives state that local elections make a significant contribution to the growth of the promotional and advertising products sector.
Promotional and Printing Industrialists and Business People Association (PROMASİAD) Chairman of the Board Ömer Karatemiz stated that general and local elections are periods that are intense and active for the promotional sector. He emphasized that before elections, candidates use promotional products heavily in their campaigns to introduce themselves and convey their messages. He noted that while 2024 is generally predicted to be a year where domestic demand will slow down, the promotional sector will positively diverge from other sectors due to election preparation activities.
Karatemiz said they aim to launch a mobilization to support imported products with domestic production. He expressed that they plan to increase their efforts toward foreign markets and have identified the USA, Mexico, Romania, and the Czech Republic as target countries.
Promotional Products Manufacturers and Sellers Association (PROMOTÜRK) Chairman of the Board Mehmet Yücetürk, on the other hand, stated that different products are preferred during election periods depending on seasonal conditions. Emphasizing that flags and hats are indispensable products for elections, Yücetürk said that winter products will also be used during this period. He highlighted that they expect an increase in demand for products such as pens, agendas, and lighters.
Mehmet Yücetürk said that the activity in the sector has begun and that demand for promotional products will increase even further once candidates are finalized. The local elections, which will take place across many provinces, districts, and towns throughout Turkey, are projected to increase the trade volume in the sector by over 10 billion liras. It is anticipated that candidates in local elections will place more weight on advertising and promotional products, as television and newspaper costs may strain candidates, while promotional products aimed at the target audience are seen as a more economical option.
