The districts with the highest income across Turkey have been identified

The new “Socioeconomic Status” (SES) report released by TÜİK was prepared by taking into account household income, education, and occupational status. In the study, which was prepared in light of data covering the years 2022, 2023, and 2024, only 1.1% of households in Turkey were considered to be at the “highest” socioeconomic level.

In the report, households were detailed according to their socioeconomic levels. Accordingly, households at the upper level account for 11.0%, the upper-lower group for 16.4%, the upper-middle group for 19.7%, the lower-middle group for 16.5%, the lower group for 18.6%, and the lowest level for 16.7%.

A remarkable picture emerged in the distribution of households at the highest and upper levels across Turkey by city. The rate of households in this group in Istanbul was recorded at 28.6%. Ankara with 11.5%, Izmir with 6.7%, Bursa with 3.9%, and Antalya with 3.3% were the other cities that stood out in the statistics.

TÜİK’s SES report reveals that the level of economic prosperity in major cities is higher compared to other regions. While districts in Istanbul and Ankara, in particular, reflect the magnitude of the income gap, centers such as Izmir and Bursa also maintain their positions in the high-level socioeconomic segment.
