A new development has occurred in the dismissal process initiated against five lieutenants who crossed their swords and chanted "We are the soldiers of Mustafa Kemal" at the Military Academy graduation ceremony. It had been stated that the Ministry of National Defense (MSB) High Disciplinary Board (YDK) would meet on November 25 (today) to address this issue. However, according to information obtained, the board did not meet today, contrary to expectations.

It has been learned that the files of the lieutenants, who are under investigation with a request for dismissal, will first be sent to the Land Forces Command. It was reported that after the evaluation of the Land Forces Command, the YDK will set a working day to address the files.

According to information received from officials, the MSB High Disciplinary Board is expected to meet and make its final decision on the files within three weeks at the latest.

THE SWORD OATH HAD SPARKED DEBATE

Following the Military Academy graduation ceremony, which was also attended by President and AKP Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, the lieutenants gathered in the middle of the field where the ceremony was held, drew their swords, and read an oath after chanting "We are the soldiers of Mustafa Kemal." The debate began after the footage of the lieutenants spread on social media.

REACTION FROM BAHÇELİ

MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli and some figures and accounts close to the AKP had made statements targeting the lieutenants. While stating, "We will be close followers of the matter," Bahçeli had used the expressions, "It is imperative that the second oath incident, which overshadowed August 30, occupied our country, gave hope to adversaries, and excited the exploitation lobby, be clarified in every respect."

Bahçeli also said, "What is the purpose of this oath, which has occupied the political and social agenda and has had autopsy reports written about it in the media every day? Who or who decided on this? How should the meaning and purpose of the need for an oath expressed by a portion of the graduating officers following the oath determined by law be interpreted?"
