Suspecting the hasty behavior of the girl's side, O.K.'s family asked D.K. to leave the jewelry she was wearing before going to Konya. A scuffle broke out between the parties. The groom's family took back some of the gold given at the wedding, while some remained on D.K.

FILED A COMPLAINT FOR "FORCIBLE DETENTION"

D.K., who left the wedding and went to her relatives in Susurluk with her family, returned to her husband O.K. 1 day later, telling him that her family had previously defrauded others by trying to marry her off to them, and that she would file a complaint. Going to the Susurluk District Police Department with the groom's family, D.K. changed her statement there, claiming she was held against her will at gunpoint and beaten, and filed a complaint against her husband and his family. After her statement at the police station, D.K. returned to Konya with her family. The O.K. side also filed a criminal complaint with the prosecutor's office through their lawyers on charges of "extortion," stating that they suffered a loss of 1 million liras due to the bride price, wedding expenses, and jewelry costs.

Lawyer Hakan Gündoğdu stated that D.K. told his client and his family that her father had previously married off her older sister 3 times, saying, "After her family left her, she told the clients that her family had forced her into marriage to run away with the jewelry at the wedding, that they had married her off to someone else in this way before, and that her older sister I.D. had also been married off 3 times and made to run away with the jewelry during the wedding. It is understood that the suspects have made a profession out of fraud and extortion by marrying off their daughters and having them run away with the jewelry on the wedding day."

While an investigation was launched into the incident, it was revealed that D.K.'s father, Y.D., had shared a photo of his daughter on his social media account in 2019 with the message, "This girl is for sale."

Stating that they also included the photo shared by Y.D. in their complaint petition, lawyer Hakan Gündoğdu said, "Unfortunately, this man has made this a habit. In 2019, he shared a photo of his daughter, who was only 13 years old at the time—the wife of my client—on his social media account with a very ugly expression. In fact, this photo confirms the allegations that D.K.'s father had previously tried to defraud the O.K. side before reaching the marriage stage by using her, that is, by trying to marry her off with a religious marriage. We are also investigating whether there has been a previous complaint against Y.D. in this direction."

The ugly comments on the social media post drew attention.

HE CLAIMED IT WAS A JOKE

Denying the accusations against him, Y.D. said that his daughter D.K. was held against her will and beaten by her husband O.K. and his family, and that contrary to what was claimed, it was impossible for them to take the gold and run away on the wedding day. Regarding the photo of his daughter that he shared on social media, Y.D. said, "It was a joke made among my family and friends."
