Theft in a chador: 23-year-old suspect found to have 48 criminal records
In a shopping mall in Güngören, a woman who concealed her identity by wearing a chador stole the bag of an Uzbekistan national. Following the incident, the police launched a rigorous investigation, detained the 23-year-old suspect S.K., and the suspect was subsequently arrested by the court.
A theft incident that took place at a shopping mall in Güngören, Istanbul, was captured on security cameras. M.K., an Uzbekistan national who was in the store for shopping, realized that her bag, which contained 2,100 dollars and 9,000 liras, had gone missing and immediately requested help from security forces. District police teams arriving at the scene meticulously examined the store's camera footage.
In the footage, it was determined that a woman walking around the store like a customer while wearing a black chador quickly took the bag that M.K. had left hanging and fled the store.
As a result of the investigations, the suspect's identity was determined through the intensive field work of the Theft Bureau teams. 23-year-old S.K. was caught and detained in an operation carried out at the house where she was hiding in Bakırköy following the incident.
It was determined that the suspect, whose investigation was conducted at the police station, had 48 separate records for various crimes committed previously. After the completion of the procedures at the police department, S.K. was referred to the courthouse and was arrested by the court and sent to prison.
