Ankara Metropolitan Municipality (ABB) has opened a municipal police recruitment exam for which university graduates will be accepted.

According to the report by Deniz Ayhan from Sözcü; among those who applied to take the written and oral exams are graduates of many different fields, ranging from law and international relations to physiotherapy, as well as teachers who could not be appointed, geography graduates, and graduates of political science, public administration, and information systems. However, the municipality will only hire 113 municipal police officers. The number of applicants has already exceeded 4,000. The applications, which began on October 3 and include those coming from outside Ankara, will continue until October 11. 

The number of applications, made either online or at the stand opened at the Atatürk Sports Hall, is expected to reach 10,000. Candidates, who must be under the age of 30, will take the written and oral exams between October 18 and 24.

'LET US HAVE A JOB'

University graduate candidates applying to become municipal police officers said, “We cannot practice our professions, we cannot find work. To get a job in ministries and many public institutions, you need political connections. This is not the job we dreamed of, but making a living has become extremely difficult. Let us just have a job.”

One of the applicants, Ramazan Kaplan, said, “There are difficulties caused by unemployment. Such recruitment drives motivate young people even more.”

Cem Yaman stated, “I would like to thank the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality for offering us this opportunity.”

KPSS THRESHOLD IS 65

Olcay Erdal, Head of the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Municipal Police Department, said in a statement, “We will add 113 more municipal police colleagues to our department. So far, there have been around 4,000 applications. For candidates, we require a minimum height of 1.60 meters for women and 1.67 meters for men, and a minimum score of 65 on the P3 score type in the 2024 KPSS exam.”
