The opposition's calls for early elections and MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli's discussions regarding paving the way for President Erdoğan to be a candidate for the third time have become an agenda item within the AKP.

BAHÇELİ'S STATEMENTS ARE ON THE AGENDA

According to information obtained, a comprehensive evaluation regarding Bahçeli's statement has not yet been held within the AKP with the participation of Erdoğan. However, party officials and deputies are expressing their views on Bahçeli's statements among themselves.

"WE DO NOT HAVE THE NUMBERS FOR A CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT"

One is a constitutional amendment, and the other is for the Parliament to take an election decision. We do not have the numbers for a constitutional amendment, and the Parliament's decision to hold elections also requires the support of the opposition. The possibility of a constitutional amendment is more difficult than the possibility of the Parliament taking an election decision. However, we can focus on the formula of the Parliament taking an election decision to go to the polls.

"WE CAN START DISCUSSING THE ELECTION IN 2027"

Because when that day comes, the opposition will not want to give the impression that it is 'running away from the election.' Currently, an election before 2028 is definitely not on the agenda.
