Thermometers hit -23: Turkey's coldest province has been identified
The Altınyayla district of Sivas was recorded as the coldest place in Turkey, with temperatures dropping to 23.2 degrees below zero at night.
According to data on the General Directorate of Meteorology's website, Altınyayla, where the lowest temperature of the day was measured, was followed by the village of Pazarsu in the Pınarbaşı district of Kayseri, with 22.7 degrees below zero.
Air temperatures were recorded as 22.5 degrees below zero in Çayırlı, Erzincan; 22.4 in Otlukbeli; 21.6 in Refahiye; and 21 degrees in the Çat district of Erzurum.
Temperatures were also measured at 20.7 degrees below zero in Tomarza, Kayseri and Artova, Tokat; and 20.6 degrees below zero in Aydıntepe, Bayburt and Kuluncak, Malatya.
On the other hand, cold weather also affected the city center and districts of Sivas.
In the city, where temperatures dropped to 10 degrees below zero at night and 6 degrees during the day, the cold weather is negatively affecting daily life.
