These were banned in Syria: Assad's embargoes against Turkey revealed

Jihadist groups led by Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), which launched an offensive against the Bashar al-Assad regime in Syria on November 27, took control of the capital Damascus on December 8.

After HTS took Damascus, Bashar al-Assad fled Syria with his family and took refuge in Russia.

While the collapse of the 61-year-old Baath regime is being celebrated in Syria, the takeover by HTS has also caused concern. It has been reported that those belonging to different sects and religions, or those who do not wish to remain under HTS rule, are in a state of great anxiety.

THE REALITY OF TURKEY AFTER ASSAD EMERGES

Following Assad's flight, the reality regarding "Turkey" in Syria has also emerged. According to reports from the region by Sözcü TV reporter Gülnur Saydam, it was learned that during the Assad era, the Turkish Lira was not accepted at currency exchange offices and that it was impossible to call Turkey from Syrian phone lines.

Reporting on the embargo implemented during the Assad era, Saydam stated the following:

"When we arrived here today, we learned that the Turkish Lira is not accepted here. There was nothing related to the Turkish Lira at the currency exchange centers, so we could not exchange our money.

Likewise, when we obtained a Syrian SIM card, we realized that, just as in the previous regime era, it is not possible to call Turkey from this system, especially from Damascus and Latakia.

In other words, we learned that Turkey is excluded from international communications. This situation has created a major difficulty for us while broadcasting."
