They applied to the Ministry of Justice to meet with terrorist leader Öcalan

Members of the DEM Party Youth Assembly have submitted an application to the Ministry of Justice to meet with Abdullah Öcalan, the leader of the terrorist organization PKK.

Following the application, the group held a press conference in front of the Ministry of Justice and shared their views on the process with the public.

The following statements were included in the announcement:

"Leader Apo's 'call for peace and a democratic society' has opened the door to positive construction, democratic consensus, and a free society by transcending the negative dialectic of rebellion and conflict through a unilateral will. This call is not merely about the silencing of weapons, but a manifesto for a new form of existence in minds, relationships, and politics. However, the state's failure to take concrete and courageous steps today is slowing down the process, and the isolation imposed on Leader Apo for days is blocking this historical flow, deepening uncertainty, and casting a shadow over the will for peace.

While we wait for the democratization steps and legal regulations that the state must take, as well as the physical freedom of our Leader, dragging the process out in this way leads to radicalization. Without Leader Apo's perspective and active participation, neither true peace nor lasting democratization is possible. Dialectical progress is born from the tension of opposites. However, for this tension to evolve into a constructive synthesis, the Leader's voice, will, and perspective are needed.

As young people, we, as the most dynamic force of this process, want to hear Leader Apo's voice, perspective, and guidance more closely. With this meeting, we aim to directly incorporate the dynamic energy, demands, and questioning spirit of the youth into the process. By listening to Leader Apo's perspective firsthand, we want to strengthen the role of youth in building peace and a democratic society, overcome obstacles, discuss concrete democratic steps, and ensure the physical freedom of our Leader."
