They posed as ministry officials: 118 detained in 642 million lira fraud

Within the scope of an investigation coordinated by the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, a massive fraud network that posed as personnel from the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change and the General Directorate of National Real Estate was exposed. Detention warrants were issued for 118 suspects who obtained a total of 642 million 853 thousand TL in illicit gains from 23 complainants, despite having no official connection to ministry units.

BILLION-LIRA MONEY FLOW WITH FAKE MINISTRY-LETTERHEADED DOCUMENTS

In the simultaneous operation carried out in 23 provinces by the Fraud Bureau of the Ankara Police Department's Public Security Branch, it was revealed that the suspects gained trust through professional methods. It was determined that the network members deceived victims by preparing fake documents with ministry letterheads and fraudulent contracts. According to data reflected in MASAK reports, it was documented that a massive money flow amounting to 2 billion 764 million 841 thousand 922 TL was managed through shell companies. Judicial proceedings were initiated against the detained suspects for "Establishing an Organization for the Purpose of Committing Crimes," "Qualified Fraud," and "Forgery of Official and Private Documents."
