Third wave in Şile Municipality investigation: 13 people arrested

A decision has been reached regarding the suspects detained following the third wave of operations conducted last Friday morning as part of the investigation into the Şile Municipality in Istanbul. Of the 17 people referred to the courthouse after their procedures at the police station were completed, 13 were arrested, while 4 were released under judicial control measures.

THIRD WAVE OPERATION BEGAN ON FRIDAY

As part of the investigation conducted by the Istanbul Anatolian Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, detention warrants were issued for 18 people. In line with the decision, simultaneous operations were carried out at 21 designated addresses in Istanbul and Izmir.

While 17 people were detained in the operations, the suspects were referred to the Istanbul Anatolian Courthouse in Kartal after their procedures at the police station.

In a statement made by the Istanbul Anatolian Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, it was stated that the third wave of the operation was carried out in line with new documents obtained during the investigation and testimonies, some of which were evaluated under the provisions of "effective remorse."

13 PEOPLE ARRESTED, 4 UNDER JUDICIAL CONTROL

A decision was reached regarding the suspects who were referred to the Criminal Judgeship of Peace following prosecution procedures.

The judgeship ruled for the arrest of 13 of the 17 suspects, while deciding to release 4 people under judicial control provisions.

TWO PREVIOUS OPERATIONS HAD BEEN CONDUCTED IN THE INVESTIGATION

In the first phase of the investigation into the Şile Municipality, Şile Mayor Özgür Kabadayı and 4 municipal managers were arrested on July 14, 2025, as part of operations targeting CHP-run municipalities.

The second wave of the investigation was carried out on December 23, 2025. In that operation, 15 of the 22 detained suspects were arrested.
