This week in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey: Limits on exorbitant site maintenance fees, commission to convene for school attacks

A critical proposal that closely concerns site residents is on the agenda of the General Assembly of the Parliament.

Regulations introducing changes to the Land Registry Law and various other laws will be discussed. With this legislative proposal, the authority of apartment and site managements to determine maintenance fee increases will be limited. This aims to prevent unplanned and exorbitant maintenance fee hikes. From now on, all expenditures to be made in sites will be submitted to the approval of the flat owners, and if there is no officially accepted site budget, increases in maintenance fees will only be possible based on the revaluation rate.

Another important article being focused on includes a regulation stating that grant and loan supports provided to citizens in provinces affected by the February 6 earthquakes cannot be seized. With this step, it is aimed to better protect earthquake victims against banks and enforcement proceedings. Furthermore, to increase the safety of construction processes, it is planned to impose a fine of 500 thousand liras on individuals and institutions that supply ready-mixed concrete to unlicensed or unauthorized buildings.

COMMISSION TO CONVENE THIS WEEK FOR SCHOOL ATTACKS

The school attacks that occurred in Şanlıurfa and Kahramanmaraş, which caused a great stir in public opinion, are also among the works of the Parliament this week. In this context, the research commission established will meet for the first time. In the first meeting, the election of the commission chair and members will be carried out, and subsequently, which names and institutions will be heard will be determined. The commission will consist of 22 members, and risks directed at young people, including dangers children may encounter in the digital environment, will be addressed in detail. With the comprehensive report to be prepared, possible preventive measures and solution proposals will be presented.

On the other hand, the group meetings of the political parties in the Parliament will also be held this week. AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan will speak at the AKP group meeting on Wednesday.
